'Audio Spiral'

Isabelle Moore & Olive Pearson

Designer-makers Olive Pearson and Isabelle Moore have worked closely together combining skills from their diverse practices. This installation is a result of their collaborative investigation exploring a mutual interest in geometry and textiles.

The work is inspired by the sounds generated in Olive's studio environment – specifically knitting machine actions. It integrates a tensioned, dynamic structure contrasting solid and flexible forms, a 3D representation of the cone shapes within the sound waves of the original audio recordings. The spirals were generated in plywood with a CNC router and the textile is machine knitted fine silk and cotton threads.
